Is it just me or …
Is it just me or is our Commander in Chief’s pin ball machine on tilt, lights flashing wildly and he thinks its cool? Goodness gracious he wants to hire a War Czar. Now that’s a great choice of words, eh? I just checked out my trusty Webster’s and it says a czar is one who is an emperor or king, a former emperor of Russia (now that has a ring to it) or an autocratic ruler or leader (ring a bell) and lastly any person exercising great authority or power in a particular field. Last time I looked the Commander in Chief was in charge of wars. I always figured that’s why they called him the Commander in Chief. The White House looks more corporate everyday of the week. He wants to name a War Czar, huh? I don’t get it. We have a bright shining new Secretary of Defense – surprise, surprise, he’s from Texas. Pardon me, but I do have to diverge here a minute. I saw a picture the other day of our brand spanking new Secretary of Defense, Mr. Gates, visiting troops in Iraq, Ramadi I believe, and did he look nice. He had a sharp new black suit, white shirt, man did he stand out. He was surrounded in the sand by military guys in cammo. They must have put a perimeter two miles wide around that dude. As a former Marine sniper in Nam he was one outstanding target, literally. Now back to the Czar thing. We have a Commander in Chief, a Secretary of Defense, a head of the Joint Chief’s of Staff and of course the Joint Chief’s of Staff heading each branch of the military. Now we need another layer between the Prez and his direct staff as Commander in Chief. Have I said Commander in Chief enough? This is awful. Are you pissed off? You should be! It’s time … time for a change! But then I heard that they changed the title to from War Czar to Execution Manager. Now that’s better … we need an ‘Execution Manager’ for Iraq, nice ring to it Mr. Bush.
